She would be the last child of Benjamin and Annaliese d’Tremaine, a child that would come ten years after her brother Elrick was born in the year 1852. She would also be a child who would spend more time outside and in the forests surrounding Stag Keep then within the walls of her home. Countless hours amongst the trees and playing hide and go seek with the guard assigned to follow her; in which he was always the seeker.
She was a bit of a wild child, and even though she would be raised with the proper etiquette of a noble, it certainly was something she took no interest in. No, Dahlia was more interested in the world around her and what it had to offer. Her father realized this quite early on and in an attempt to corral her, assigned one of his finest archers and trackers to be her escort. She would learn from a young age the art of the bow and would go from being the hider to the seeker as her tracking skills were tested. She had a real knack for both skills and her parents came to accept the fact that their youngest child and daughter was not going to be married off to some beneficial noble willingly and that her path was another.
When she was twelve, Benjamin d’Tremaine arranged for his daughter to serve as a squire under a well established al’ Callenta knight serving at the Duke’s court; . He knew she had the ability; she just needed the guidance. Thus, she was sent off to begin her training.
When the Westwars began in 1868, Dahlia was 16 and accompanied her Knight. She would serve her through the wars that ended in 1873 when she was 21. It was during this time that she came to know another young squire by the name of Elian al’ Callenta whose Knight was also serving in the same command.
Her and Elian quickly bonded through their squire duties, often finding the time to talk while they polished armor and weapons and saw to the horses. They would develop a friendship that was born out of mutual respect and common interest, a friendship that was built on trust and understanding.
Dahlia was knighted towards the end of the Westwars in the year 1871 when she was 19. She had proven herself as an accomplished archer and information gatherer, spending less time on the martial aspects of her knight training. Her Knight saw her aptitude as was going to capitalize on it. As a gift from Valeria, Dahlia was given a falcon she affectionately called: Arrow.
Through the remainder of the war, Dahlia served under her Knight’s contingent, acting as a member of the archery division and serving as a primary scout for the larger force when asked by superior commanders.
When the war ended there was a small period of peace. Dahlia took a small respite at home, taking some time to put the horrors behind her. The forests of her youth did much to reset the young woman. However, recently the Bitralund invasion changed everything. She went to war again, joining up with the Sixth Argent Cohort when she heard Elian was in the area, and fought alongside them through much of the war. When the sixth went east to Eosphora, so did she.
What does the future hold for the young Knight? Does glory await her and her family name? This chapter is yet to be written.
